Reminder: New membership cards will be issued with payment of 2008 dues.
It will really help if you can mail the application form (see below) before
meeting or have the application and check already filled out when you come. The
new cards will be green in color to help identify those with current
membership. Anyone using the claims is required to have the card on his/her
person. If you have not paid your membership by the April meeting, you will not
receive a May newsletter.
March
2008 Meeting Minutes
Tami Palin welcomed new guests. The February 2008 meetings
minutes were approved.
Treasure’s report
- $7173.41
Business – Storage shed prices range from $55 -$65. Gary Singleton
took the dredges and high banker and Dan Prochaska
will check them out to make sure they are all running well. Final decision on
where they will be stored will be made at the April meeting.
Paul Davis checked on club hats. They could go $15 - $20.
Jesse Leib knows someone who can do them cheaper. He will check it out and
report in the April meeting.
Ron Mackleprang brought copies of
the new claims guide. It was asked that we only take one per family.
Ron also encouraged members to send comments about the
amendment on roadless area laws to our legislators
and attend the public meetings.
In Chuck Knapp’s court case, a deal was worked out that
allows him to keep his camper on the claim with no time limit, as long as he
stays there. A copy of the written agreement will be published in a future
newsletter.
Tami asked for volunteers to be on a political action
committee. Kyle Hedon, Chuck Knapp and Jim Jenks
volunteered.
Joel Biggs brought applications and information on dredging
and high banker permits. Members were able to pick them up. The permits cost
$10.
Tami reminded members to have their membership cards on
them when prospecting on our claims. Members should ask anyone they observe
prospecting on our claims to show the card. Do not get into a major
confrontation with them. If they do not produce a card or leave when asked
nicely, contact the local county sheriff.
She also reminded members not to smoke, drink alcohol or
bring weapons on school grounds. We would hate to lose the privilege of using
the high school for our meetings.
Dale Lee will dig up some ground at Miss Lucy before our
next outing.
Lawre Buys won the wagon planter box.
Lindsay Porter won the gold nugget and will supply goodies
for the April meeting.
Letter from the
President:
Happy spring, everyone! It's getting closer to the time we
can get out and start prospecting! We will be doing our twice-yearly litter
pickup on Highway 21 the weekend following our meeting. We'll meet at the
Daggett Creek turnout at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 12. The club will buy
breakfast for all participants following the cleanup. See you at the meeting.
